About the Position

The Technical Department consists of street, park, traffic, water and sewage, waste, and rescue services, as well as project management. The department primarily functions as a client organization that purchases services from consultants and contractors.

Vellinge Municipality's water and sewage division invests significantly in renewing, improving, and expanding where necessary. In waste management, Vellinge Municipality is among the best in Sweden at sorting household waste.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The technical unit in Vellinge Municipality is primarily seeking a water engineer. However, we are a small unit and sometimes need to help each other, so you are expected to be curious and willing to learn some overarching aspects of waste management to provide support when needed. The position offers the opportunity to work broadly and variably primarily within water and sewage.

Your main tasks will depend on your interests, knowledge, and experience, but you will be involved in the entire water and sewage unit's operations. Currently, we are focusing on increasing the resilience of our water and sewage facilities.

This involves both working strategically on how the water and sewage operations should function in the future as well as handling subscriber issues in daily operations. We continuously work to strengthen existing facilities and pipeline networks in a sustainably long-term manner.

Vellinge Municipality is continuously growing, and the water and sewage operations also work closely with planning, building, and environment, as well as other units in the municipality for sustainable growth and development.

The work involves close contact with our contractors, subscribers, property owners, and service providers, as well as with other municipalities. You contribute to the municipality's environmental efforts and work proactively, which requires environmental monitoring, maintaining a network of contacts, and ongoing professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a university engineer or civil engineer with a focus on water and sewage, or has acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. We welcome applicants with several years of relevant work experience, but recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.

It is essential that you are passionate about environmental issues, as this is crucial for a sustainable future.

In addition to being technically skilled, you are also service-oriented, engaged, and structured with a good ability to communicate in a trustworthy manner. Furthermore, you are accustomed to working both independently and in teams. Personal suitability will be given significant weight.

You have good computer skills, where knowledge of GIS is a significant advantage. You express yourself well in both speech and writing and hold a valid driver's license (B).
