Preschool Assistant at the Sámi School Board

The Sámi School Board is a government authority and has its office with the school principal, controllers, HR, and administrators in Jåhkåmåhkke.

The Sámi school is an educational form equivalent to primary school, providing education from preschool class to grade 6. The teaching is based on Sámi culture and the Sámi language according to the curriculum for Sámi schools. The Sámi School Board also operates preschools in agreement with the respective municipality. The Sámi School Board has operations in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna.

The Sámi School Board organizes distance education in the Sámi languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sámi education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a preschool assistant, you will contribute to driving, developing, and documenting the educational work in accordance with the preschool's curriculum and operational idea. Together with your colleagues, you will plan, document, implement, evaluate, reflect, and analyze based on the activities in relation to children's development and learning, as well as the Sámi perspective, both individually and in work teams. You will actively participate in developing successful learning environments together with others at the preschool. You will also participate in other work at the preschool with the staff.

The preschool assistant participates in play, movement, and activities and assists during meals, dressing, and nap times. A large part of the activities takes place outdoors on the preschool's yard, both in winter and on bare ground. As a preschool assistant, you are responsible for supervising the children and must be able to move freely even outside the cleared pathways. The preschool teacher has the pedagogical responsibility, but the preschool assistant is also involved in the pedagogical planning. Documentation and planning of various indoor and outdoor activities are important parts of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a trained preschool assistant or have other qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer. You are proficient in Sámi, both orally and in writing. You are well acquainted with the Preschool Curriculum. You enjoy being outdoors and using nature as a basis for children's learning. You have experience in pedagogical documentation and systematic quality work. You are positive and secure as a person. You can work independently and easily build good relationships with children and adults. You see children as competent and resourceful individuals. You contribute to the preschool's value-based work through a democratic approach that encourages influence and interaction. You see IT as a natural part of the work with children and as a tool in systematic quality work. It is an advantage if you have experience working with children who need special support for various reasons in their development.

You have a positive view of people and the ability to create good relationships, as well as the ability to prevent and resolve conflicts. You are meticulous, flexible, and attentive to the needs of the children, and you enjoy working with children and youth. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. We are looking for someone with documented good collaboration skills.
