Stockholm Exergi is now looking for a Discipline Lead Electrical for the BECCS project, where you will have overall responsibility for electrical power within engineering and contribute to the development of a robust, reliable, and high-performing BioCCS facility.
About Stockholm Exergi and BECCS
In 2016, Stockholm Exergi began an investigation into the possibility of building a facility for capturing carbon dioxide from the flue gases of the biomass-fired combined heat and power plant in Värtan (KVV8) – known as Bio Energy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS).
The early studies resulted in the selection of a technical solution based on Hot Potassium Carbonate (HPC). With support from the Swedish Energy Agency, further in-depth studies continued, and in 2020 a decision was made to conduct a feasibility study to enable a full-scale bio-CCS facility.
About the role
The role involves leading the electrical discipline within the Engineering function in the BECCS project. You will be responsible for all aspects of electrical power and ensure that the design complies with project specifications, requirements, and integrates effectively with other disciplines.
The goal of the assignment is to, in close collaboration with EPC and EP suppliers, design a cost-effective, robust, and reliable BioCCS facility with high technical performance.
The project is currently in the detailed design phase with EP and EPC suppliers, where technical design is carried out in close collaboration between suppliers and clients. Supplier meetings are held regularly for requirements setting, technical decisions, and follow-up.
Responsibilities
As Discipline Lead Electrical, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and coordinating all aspects of electrical power in the BECCS project
- Ensuring that electrical deliveries meet technical requirements, quality standards, and project specifications
- Leading technical investigations within electrical power in collaboration with internal functions, design teams, and contractors
- Participating in the technical design of:BioCCS facility's electrical power system (EIC – Electrical, Instrument & Control)Low voltage switchgear (MCC) with associated starting and driving equipment (Simocode, AUMATIC, VFD, etc.)Distributed electrical centers
- Coordinating interfaces between electrical power and automation systems for control and monitoring
- Planning, reviewing, and approving drawings within electrical power and following up progress to ensure that comments from the client organization are coordinated and handled by contractors
- Participating in and leading supplier meetings with EPC and EP suppliers
- Identifying, analyzing, and managing risks within electrical power and developing and implementing action plans
- Managing interfaces with other disciplines, functions, and contractors to ensure a cohesive project delivery
- Reporting to the Engineering Lead regarding status, risks, technical issues, and progress
- Providing technical leadership and support to the electrical team, including resource allocation between work packages
- Ensuring that input from HSE, operations, and other functions is integrated to achieve optimal technical solutions and the project's overall goals

- Solid experience in electrical engineering, preferably from large-scale projects in the energy, process, oil, or gas industry
- Strong technical competence with the ability to provide technical guidance and overall control
- Ability to manage risks and drive technical investigations in parallel with project planning and budget
- Very good knowledge in the design of backup power systems, including diesel generators (EDG)
- Very good knowledge of UPS systems, such as 110 V DC, including control of protection functions
- Very good knowledge of low voltage switchgear (MCC), starting and driving equipment (Simocode, AUMATIC, VFD)
- Very good knowledge of distributed electrical centers
