Project Engineering Manager for global client in Västerås
Do you want to take on the technical leadership in complex projects that shape the infrastructure of the future?
We are now looking for an experienced and decisive Project Engineering Manager for a consulting assignment via Randstad with our world-leading client in Västerås.
As a Project Engineering Manager, you will have overall technical responsibility for leading and delivering complex engineering projects. You act as the central link between project management and the technical teams.
Your focus will be on driving the development of innovative solutions and ensuring that all contractual requirements are met – from concept to final delivery – within the given frameworks of quality, cost, and time (QCD).
To succeed in this role, you are a confident decision-maker with strong analytical skills. You thrive in a coordinating role where you can combine your technical expertise with your ability to lead people towards common goals. As a person, you are persistent, solution-oriented, and a skilled communicator who can manage customer relationships in complex contractual situations.
The assignment is for 6 months. Interviews are ongoing, and the position may be filled before the closing date.
Responsibilities
To be responsible for the technical and contractual content of the project. You ensure delivery in accordance with quality, cost, performance, and schedule.
Main responsibilities
- Technical responsibility: Ensure customer approval of the project solution and manage technical risks.
- Team leadership: Functionally lead the project's engineering team by distributing tasks and following up on activities.
- Finance & Planning: Responsible for the budget (QCD) for the engineering part of the project.
- Interface: Act as the link between project management and the technical teams, as well as manage contact with customers and suppliers.
- Change management: Act as the chair of the project's Change Control Board.
Qualifications
Educational requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or another scientific field.
- Preferred: Master's degree in business administration or project management.
Experience
- Engineering background: You must have experience of the entire lifecycle of a project, from start to delivery.
- Leadership: Practical experience in leading teams, either directly or functionally.
- Financial control: Experience in cost and planning control within technical projects.
- Customer relations: Familiarity with managing customer relationships in contractual situations.
Preferred specialist knowledge
- Knowledge of products and services within various market segments (urban transport, rail, etc.).
- Experience in safety work.
Personal qualities
- You need to be good at communicating and collaborating.
- Decision-maker: Ability to make decisions and think analytically and critically.
- Problem-solving: A natural inclination to solve problems and be persistent.
