The Transport Department (TA) is tasked with transporting and supervising detained individuals. It is Kriminalvården's clients who are moved between detention centers and prisons, to court hearings and hospitals, among other places. TA also transports detained individuals on behalf of, for example, the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Migration Agency, and psychiatry. We are now looking for new colleagues for the Transport Department's office in Umeå.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with the client. Working in the transport department means that your main task is to transport detained individuals on behalf of Kriminalvården and other authorities. You will encounter a wide variety of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. You will search, restrain, and supervise the client during transport, but our primary tool is our communicative ability. The work also includes supervision during, for example, court hearings and hospital visits. Air transport may occur. The varying assignments mean that working hours can differ from day to day.

When you start with us, you will receive an introduction with mixed content where both theoretical parts and practical elements are covered so that you feel secure in your role and ready to start working in your new team. You will also undergo a driver training course, and after you have worked for a period, you will be offered a place in Kriminalvården's basic training, which is mandatory for all permanent positions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that Kriminalvården deems relevant
  • Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment
  • Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish
  • Good computer skills
  • Driver's license (category B) and good driving experience

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Education in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law.
  • Work experience in relevant areas, such as correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, health and social care, service professions
