JOB DESCRIPTION

Secure a summer temporary position for summer 2026.

Do you want to contribute to a safer society? As a correctional officer at a prison, you are the foundation of the security work. You work in a team with other professionals to maintain a safe and secure environment and to motivate clients towards a life without crime. Daily tasks include locking and unlocking residential rooms, searching facilities, and supervision, as well as providing counseling and preparing for release, among other duties. The role of a correctional officer involves a structured and routine-based approach with a focus on risk assessment and security awareness. The work is varied, and there are many development opportunities for those seeking continued employment. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop and change.

The employment begins with a two-week introduction at Hällby Prison. A summer job is a good entry point to a permanent position with paid training.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
• Completed high school education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Work experience in correctional services, security work, or psychiatry.
• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Relevant language skills.
• A valid driver's license (B).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions relevant to the position. The answers to the selection questions and CV will determine if you are qualified to proceed in the process.

The summer temporary position extends from week 23 to week 35 with the possibility of an earlier start.
