Cook Wanted at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transportation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a cook with us, you will be part of a work team preparing meals primarily for the inmates, but also for a staff cafeteria that is open Monday to Friday. The newly built kitchen opened in the summer of 2025 and offers modern kitchen equipment.

The tasks include all activities typical of a large kitchen, such as planning, preparing lunch and dinner. The responsibilities also include cleaning the kitchen facilities, dishwashing, and self-control in accordance with applicable legislation. Preparation of dietary meals and other special diets is also part of the job. Work is done in collaboration with staff in other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and self-aware. You remain calm and controlled in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Restaurant or large-scale catering education at the high school level or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• The ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience working in a large kitchen
• Experience working with self-controls
• Experience working with special diets
• Category B driver's license
• Relevant language skills
