ST Physician in General Medicine
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and ensure that research and innovation yield results.
The region's primary care provides broad primary care services throughout Region Västerbotten and meets patients of all ages, both in urban and rural areas. With 33 health centers and medical stations, we are where you are. We offer research and development and utilize medical results to provide high-quality care where the patient is involved. We want our employees to be engaged, have influence, and feel proud to work in the region's primary care. Here you have the opportunity for a job where you can balance an interesting and developing work life with a rich variety of outdoor activities, both summer and winter.
The medical stations are part of the southern Lapland primary care area, which is a model area in the transition to close care. With effective collaboration and a focus on the citizen, we drive important change processes within the region and together with the municipality. Clinical assessment at a distance and digital healthcare meetings are developing rapidly and are an important part of ensuring good, close, and accessible care in this area. Therefore, it is no coincidence that we are at the forefront in this field. The medical station model, which is an important starting point for close care, shapes both the approach and working methods in the daily operations of the organization.
Vilhelmina, Åsele, and Dorotea medical stations are part of the same base unit and are located in southern Lapland, fifty kilometers apart. The nearest hospital is in Lycksele, where the county's ambulance helicopter is stationed.
Our medical stations function as well-equipped mini-hospitals with access to emergency care beds, X-ray, ambulance services, and laboratory. Our use of telemedicine is well developed. Here you will find occupational therapists, midwives, physiotherapists, social workers, doctors, psychologists, secretaries, nurses, and nursing assistants. We provide emergency care as well as routine work at the health center and have a well-developed collaboration between all our professional groups and with the municipalities.
We collaborate with universities and accept students. There is an opportunity for ST blocks focusing on rural medicine in collaboration with GMC Rural Medicine Center, an area that is highly prioritized and exciting development work is ongoing.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You have the opportunity to expand your knowledge through a rural profile, which gives you a broader base and increased emergency competence. It also includes an insight into the possibilities of distance technology for care.
In addition to the specialty-specific program, you will also participate as an ST physician in LEKA training. A program focused on leadership, economics, communication, administration, ethics, and time for personal reflection for ST physicians within Region Västerbotten.
