Resident Physician in Rheumatology

The Rheumatology section at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is responsible for both broad rheumatological healthcare and regional care for patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases, as well as national highly specialized care for patients with systemic sclerosis. The regional care handles complicated patients from the southern healthcare region. The section is also responsible for pediatric rheumatology, where doctors are employed at the rheumatology unit, but care is provided at the Children's and Adolescent Hospital (Bus) in Lund. We have an inpatient ward in Lund, a day care for complicated investigations, rheumatology outpatient clinics in Lund and Malmö including infusion sites and rheumatology day care rehabilitation.

The extensive research spans from connective tissue biology through immunology and epidemiology to therapy studies and rehabilitation. Close collaborative forms with several specialties are established, and internally we work in teams. The rapid development in rheumatology in recent years and anticipated retirements have led to a significant need for rheumatologists. Knowledge about underlying causes has increased, leading to the development of new drugs and treatment programs with early diagnosis and early treatment initiation for rheumatic diseases. We now need to hire resident physicians in rheumatology.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are now looking for two resident physicians with an interest in rheumatology and research.

The position involves work in both inpatient care in Lund and outpatient care in Malmö and Lund, and in some cases at our consulting locations within Skåne. You will also be an internal medicine on-call physician in Lund during your residency. The positions aim for specialization in rheumatology. You will be part of a resident/under-doctor group of about 15 people. As a resident physician, you will receive solid training in rheumatology and you will carry out your residency according to the guidelines of the National Board of Health and Welfare. This includes good opportunities for quality work, scientific work, and deepening in various diagnostic areas.

To make the residency as rewarding as possible, your education plan will be developed in consultation with the program director and supervisors. The education takes place within the framework of the residency program with an individual supervisor and based on a residency contract that is developed together with the program director, section chief, and supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement. Experience or interest in research is an advantage.

You have good communication skills and can convey knowledge and messages clearly and pedagogically. We expect you to have good collaboration skills and to contribute to a positive work environment. Interest in research and development is of central importance. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
