School Librarian Wanted at IES Eskilstuna

Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) is a leading independent school group with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English, with English as the language of the corridors. IES is one of Sweden's largest school groups with 43 schools and around 30,000 students across the country. IES has grown steadily and maintained quality since 1993.

IES Eskilstuna is one of the largest schools in Sweden with 1,185 students enrolled in grades F-9 and approximately 125 staff members.

IES Eskilstuna is currently seeking a school librarian who is eager to work with a strong focus on the school’s educational mission. The position is a full-time temporary post, starting in March 2026.

The role primarily involves working with reading and reading promotion, language development, and media and information literacy. The assignment also includes working persistently and systematically—aligned with research and the school’s governing documents—to shift the perception of the school library from being merely a physical space to becoming a shared responsibility across the entire school and a key tool in the systematic quality improvement process aimed at increasing students’ academic achievement.

You are very confident in interacting with students of all ages and enjoy teaching groups or classes independently. Who are you?

• You are studying or have a degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent
• Previous experience working as a school librarian in compulsory school is considered an asset
• You have strong knowledge of literature and information retrieval, GDPR, and data privacy when handling user data
• You understand the school curriculum and how the library can support student learning
• You communicate well verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English and have a high level of digital competence
• You also have strong pedagogical skills and an understanding of how students acquire knowledge and their varying needs and abilities
