We have recently conducted a recruitment for the organist position. Due to changes in circumstances at a late stage, there is now an opportunity to apply for the position again.
We are looking for someone who sees the choir as an important part of the congregation's life and wants to enable singing and music for all ages. You want to pass on organ playing to new generations and are ready to find new ways to do so. You want to let music be a clear tool to highlight existential questions and the hope and longing of the Christian faith.
Tunafors Congregation is part of the Eskilstuna Parish, which consists of four congregations, two preschools, and a funeral service. There is also a large support operation, allowing the congregations to focus on their activities.
Eskilstuna Parish strives to make cultural impacts both locally and nationally through exhibitions, concerts, and more. We are present at Folk and Culture, a cultural political congress, as a partner to the Church of Sweden at the national level. In the future, you will have the opportunity to influence the church music development in a newly renovated church space in connection with the renovation of the congregation's main church, Fors Church, with roots dating back to the 11th century. The congregation also includes a smaller neighborhood church from the 1980s, St. Andrew's Church.

Job Responsibilities
As an organist, you are part of the team in Tunafors Congregation. You help enable the congregation's life and develop the church music work based on the parish's and congregation's goals and visions. Your main responsibilities include playing at services and church ceremonies, continuing to develop the choir activities in the congregation, and having primary responsibility for the congregation's concert activities. You also participate in the congregation's and parish's joint projects and concert activities, where you, as the organist, have overall responsibility for the projects that fall within your role.
You have two musician colleagues in the congregation, where your different competencies contribute to achieving the congregation's vision of breadth and quality in the musical activities. Together with other colleagues in the team, you play a part in making the church visible and present in our local area. You will join a congregation that wants to meet people both in our church spaces and in other arenas. Collaboration and networking in the community are important parts of the congregation's vision.
In another of the parish's four congregations, there are two organists who will be good colleagues to develop and collaborate with in the church music work.
The primary placement for the position is in the congregation's two churches, but work occurs throughout the parish. Both daytime and evening and weekend work are included.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- The Church of Sweden's church musician exam at A or B level, or equivalent
- At least three years of experience in church music work in an organist position in the Church of Sweden
- Good computer skills
- Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
- A valid driver's license and preferably access to a personal vehicle for travel within the parish
If you have several years of experience working with choirs of different ages, we see that as a significant merit. We also appreciate if you are used to collaborating and building networks within and outside the church.
The position places high demands on the ability to collaborate, build and maintain relationships, and make music with different types of people. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is relationship-building and has good collaboration skills. You are attentive to others, clear in your communication, and always provide a good response. Furthermore, you have a structured approach that makes you efficient in planning and organizing your work while keeping your deadlines. You easily navigate and work in project form. Your planning is long-term, and through your flexible approach, you can make improvements during the work process. You take initiative and bring your ideas to life to achieve good results and develop activities.
