Do you want to help develop a library that reflects and strengthens a growing, multilingual community? Upplands-Bro Library is now looking for an engaged adult librarian with special responsibility for multilingualism and statistics.

Job Description

As a multilingual librarian, you will monitor the needs and demands of our local target groups and ensure that the library's media collection in this area remains current.

You will collaborate with the municipality's operations, local associations, and cultural organizations, and you will also work together with SFI, schools, and mother tongue teachers. The role also includes contact with relevant networks.

You will actively work to highlight the library's multilingual content, for example through programs and exhibitions, multilingual informational materials, as well as communication on social media and the library's website.

The position includes regular tasks such as selection and purchase of media and work in information services. As a librarian, you will guide visitors in both the physical and digital library. You will contribute to making the library's content accessible and to fostering a love for reading.

Upplands-Bro Library consists of two units: Kungsängen Library and Bro Library. The position includes evening work and weekend work every fourth week.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has education in library and information science or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent
• Preferably has work experience from libraries
• Good digital competence, including familiarity with library systems, digital services, and information retrieval.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as associations, schools, and other municipal operations.
• Has knowledge of languages other than Swedish: Upplands-Bro Library is a Finnish administrative area, and knowledge of the Finnish language is particularly meritorious.

As a person, you are self-driven, curious, and attentive. You have good pedagogical skills and can speak in front of people, both children and adults during library tours and other events. You are aware of your surroundings and interested in various cultural expressions. We see diversity as a strength and therefore welcome applicants from different backgrounds.

About the position

The position is a permanent employment. A probationary period may be applied. Start date by agreement. The position includes evening work and weekend work every fourth week.
