Beroendecentrum Stockholm is hiring advisors for support lines

Beroendecentrum Stockholm is Sweden's largest addiction clinic. We offer support and assistance to individuals with problems related to alcohol, drugs, medications, or gambling. Our services include emergency and inpatient care, local outpatient care, and highly specialized treatment. We also operate as a university hospital and engage in research and education.

eSupport is part of Beroendecentrum Stockholm, where we work with support and treatment via the internet and phone.

Our overarching mission is to provide easily accessible support and treatment interventions for individuals seeking help for alcohol, other drugs, and gambling. The unit offers a range of services, including support through Alcohol Help and Drug Help, as well as several psychological treatment programs online. Research is well integrated into the clinical operations with researchers on-site. We are a friendly and competent team actively working to maintain a good work environment.

For over a year, we have also been tasked with running a support line for mental health and suicide prevention called the Help Line. The Help Line is aimed at individuals seeking support in a crisis or for their own well-being, as well as relatives of individuals with mental health issues.

The Work

We are now looking for more advisors for our support lines, primarily for the Help Line but also to some extent for Alcohol Help and Drug Help. The service operates 24/7. Work is scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.

The target group has varying needs for support. The work as an advisor involves providing individual support to anonymous individuals via phone and online.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is:

• A nurse, psychologist, psychotherapist, social worker, or equivalent.
• You should have experience and/or interest in working via phone and online (e.g., with social media, in a chat, or as a moderator in a forum) and experience in psychiatry or other types of work related to mental health.
• It is important that you have good skills in a patient-centered conversation method such as Motivational Interviewing.

Previous experience with night work or support line operations is an advantage.

Personal Qualities

You need to have a genuine interest in providing support for varying degrees of problems. You are a trustworthy person. You can create relationships and meet the person you are talking to at an appropriate level. You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and are accustomed to speaking with people in crisis.

As parts of our mission are still new, the content of the counseling will be adapted based on incoming requests and target groups, which makes a flexible approach to the work content necessary, but there are good opportunities to contribute to the development and improvement of our services. The work takes place on-site in our facilities where you have access to colleagues, but you also need to be able to work independently in phone counseling since most calls are made individually. Additionally, curiosity and the ability to collaborate are important qualities. An interest in learning and understanding technical systems is desirable. Personal qualities are highly valued.

Employment Conditions

Temporary employment with the possibility of permanent employment. Full-time or part-time according to agreement.

Selection and interviews are conducted continuously, and we will use work samples in the selection process. Start date according to agreement.

Beroendecentrum Stockholm applies alcohol and drug testing as well as background checks for new hires.

• good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is required, in addition to Swedish professional licensure. The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed personnel with patient contact.
