Business Description

Sjöpark School is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal middle school in the locality and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and about 55 staff. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements for a middle school and is modern in its design. The school works extensively to create good learning environments, collegial learning, and to establish sustainable structures to equip students for the future. The school also has school nurses and school counselors on site. There is also a special educator, social educator, and study and career counselor. Two key educators work to develop our digital competence, and the school has substitute teachers who cover short-term absences. Lead teachers work on subject development. The school is divided into three working teams led by their respective team leaders. New and unqualified staff are mentored by experienced and qualified colleagues as part of their introduction and ongoing daily work with teaching. The school offers opportunities for students with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. There is a preparatory class for newly arrived students at the school.

Job Responsibilities

As an educator at Sjöpark School, you will work with everything related to teaching. You prepare, plan, implement, and evaluate students' progress and your own teaching. You work closely with guardians. You actively participate in school meetings and in your own development as well as that of the school. Most educators also work as responsible mentors in a class.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a teaching license for Swedish grades 7-9 and has a present and attentive approach to students' various needs, is a clear leader, and has good collaboration skills. You are independent, responsible, and have a knack for taking your own initiatives. We develop our work through pedagogical conversations and collegial learning and see it as a strength to be able to help each other to be curious about new ways of working. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for a position in Gällivare Municipality.
