Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Reception 3, Paramedicine, Eskilstuna
About Us
The Occupational Therapy Reception at Mälarsjukhuset provides rehabilitation in both outpatient and inpatient care. Working in inpatient care is rewarding but can also be demanding as we are an important piece of the discharge process. The occupational therapist group operates from shared premises with physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants. This ensures that colleagues are always nearby to ask questions, reflect with, seek help from, or assist in daily work.
We are now looking for someone experienced with a particular interest in neurological rehabilitation. The placement is in the stroke department where you will work alongside three other occupational therapists, one of whom is part of the external stroke team. You will meet colleagues with extensive experience and high competence in both occupational therapy and physiotherapy, and the workgroup has a curiosity and willingness to learn new things and improve our operations. We are in a phase of forming a new workgroup and common working methods. If you are the right person, we see good opportunities to create new possibilities together.
Your Responsibilities
As an occupational therapist in the stroke department, you will meet patients with stroke symptoms, confirmed strokes, and patients with other neurological diseases. You will perform initial stroke assessments to determine the need for further evaluation and rehabilitation. You will also conduct structured assessments of both personal and instrumental activities of daily living (ADL), cognitive abilities, and hand and arm function. Based on your assessment, you will draw conclusions about the rehabilitation needs of the patient.
In the department, various neurological patients with different needs are cared for. Some patients require shorter interventions and assessments before discharge, while others have a longer care need for inpatient rehabilitation over an extended period before discharge. Assessment, prescription, and trial of assistive devices are also among the most common tasks. Home visits may occur as part of the rehabilitation process.
We support each other across departmental boundaries, which means you will have the opportunity to gain insight into and experience working in other departments.
Your Qualifications
You who are applying are an experienced licensed occupational therapist and are confident in your professional role and can prioritize independently. You come with ideas and are eager to work on finding new working methods. You structure your work and drive your processes while still considering the overall operation. You have a good ability to collaborate, as you will work in a team with physiotherapists, speech therapists, dietitians, social workers, nursing assistants, nurses, and doctors. Collaboration also occurs externally, for example with occupational therapists or case managers within municipal operations. You are flexible and can easily adapt based on what the situation requires. Since home visits may occur, we see a driver's license (category B) as desirable. We place great importance on personal qualities.
We Offer
- Wellness allowance.
- Flexible working hours agreement.
- Opportunities for professional development.
- Friendly and experienced colleagues and managers.
