Öresundsverket is a modern natural gas-fired power plant located in Malmö with a capacity of 448 MW. In June 2023, Svenska kraftnät, also known as the Electricity Preparedness Authority, decided that Öresundsverket should be part of Sweden's electricity preparedness. Based on this, Uniper restored Öresundsverket to operational condition, and from the first quarter of 2025, the facility will be ready within the Swedish electricity preparedness.

Your role with us

The main tasks for you as an Operations Technician include monitoring the power plant's turbines, generators, and support systems. The Operations Technician has an active role in maintenance where ownership of the facility's function and performance is important. You will work in the power plant's central control room but will also spend a significant part of your working time out in the facility. This is an operational position where you have significant responsibility for planning your day and making necessary decisions. You will work in smaller teams where collaboration with other colleagues is crucial for the operation to function - within the team, you will share tasks and alternate.

What will you work with?

• Operation and monitoring of Öresundsverket

• Rounds and checklists

• Function tests/start-up tests

• Work permits, troubleshooting, outages, and revisions

• System responsibility – writing and updating instructions and drawings

• Participate in test runs, etc.

The role involves continuous 3-shift work. You will work in pairs with a control room engineer who leads the operational work. You will be supported in your skills development in preventive maintenance (mechanics, electrical, instrumentation and control systems, maintenance and documentation systems, process chemistry, etc.).

You will report to the operations manager and have Saad Boss as an engaged, present, and coaching manager who supports you in your development. As an Operations Technician, you can grow in your knowledge by participating in technical development projects where you represent operations. We also have other facilities within GT-Nordics (Barsebäck, Karlshamn, and Halmstad) that you will have the opportunity to get to know.

Uniper is part of Sweden's critical infrastructure, and our operations are subject to regulations regarding security protection, export control, and nuclear non-proliferation. Therefore, we will conduct security checks for all our services and supplement with background checks for security-classified positions, in accordance with the Security Protection Act. Uniper is part of critical societal operations in Sweden, which is why this position may be subject to military placement. A health examination, including a drug test, may also be relevant before employment.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who wants an active role in maintenance and operations and who wants to take ownership of the facility's function and performance. To be successful, you need to have the willingness and ability to seek and absorb information and have the ambition to gradually build your knowledge to become more self-sufficient in your role.

As an Operations Technician, it is important to follow and maintain routines, be attentive to deviations, and adhere to checklists, but we also see that you take your own initiatives. To thrive in the role, we believe you have a genuine interest in technology that drives you to understand how the power plant process works, both at the system and component level.

As we are in a phase of building up, you need to understand this - that we together set routines and working methods. Good collaboration and communication skills, as well as a solution-oriented mindset, are a must.

Safety always comes first at Uniper's facilities, and given the nature of the work, it is of utmost importance that you have good integrity and a high safety mindset.

Requirements:

• Completed post-secondary education, e.g., KY/YH as an operations technician or engineering technician.

• Work experience from thermal power plants and good knowledge of their properties and functions.

• Good language skills in Swedish and English (spoken, written, comprehension).

• B driver's license

Meritorious:

• Experience in maintenance work and contractor management.

• Previous experience as an operations technician.

• Work experience from power plants.

• Work experience with SAP.
