Workplace Description

The section for camera surveillance and analysis is part of the regional investigation unit and consists of four operational areas: the camera surveillance center, the camera technology group, the UAS group (Unmanned Aircraft System), and image analysis capability. The section works and supports throughout the region regarding camera surveillance and analysis of camera material.

Job Description

As a remote pilot, you are responsible for flying the Police Authority's UAS (drones) during various types of operations. You will fly BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) from the police's camera surveillance center. The position requires good spatial ability, especially during BVLOS flights, as the work involves assessing the environment based on camera images via a screen. You gather and present situational images from the air during, for example, public gatherings, public events, special incidents in collaboration with various clients, and during searches for missing persons and other police assignments. The work is characterized by a high degree of personal responsibility, and you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of methods, tactics, and technology within the organization. A strong technical interest and good technical competence are therefore important prerequisites for succeeding in the assignment.

To succeed as a remote pilot, you need to be able to work concentrated for extended periods and have the ability to create an accurate situational awareness based on technical information. The role involves performing qualified flying and documentation, while the assignment may change and new instructions may be given during ongoing operations. The work as a remote pilot is conducted in shifts, around the clock, every day of the year.

In addition to the main assignment as a remote pilot, you will also function as an operator in the camera surveillance center, handle detection alarms, and, if necessary, work within the section's other operational areas. The employment will begin with relevant training.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Completed high school diploma
  • Experience in handling and developing technical equipment deemed relevant by the employer.
  • Good multitasking ability (will be tested)
  • Good local knowledge of Stockholm (will be tested)
  • Good stress management ability (will be tested)
  • Meet medical fitness criteria, including visual requirements[1], color vision[2], hearing requirements[3]
  • Ability to move freely
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
  • B driver's license

The employment requires Swedish citizenship.

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • Other relevant education in the field.
  • Experience of similar tasks from the Police Authority or another authority deemed relevant by the employer.
  • Experience with surveillance systems, sensor technology, network technology, or systems technology.
  • Experience working shifts or night shifts.
  • Drone license A2

Candidates who meet the qualifications will be called for an interview during weeks 12 and 13. Candidates who proceed from the interview will be invited to a testing day at Kronoberg from April 16 to 20. Certificates may be requested later in the recruitment process.

Personal Qualities

To thrive in the role of remote pilot, you need to feel comfortable working under time pressure. The work will at times have high peaks where you are expected to handle and keep track of many things simultaneously, which requires good stress management and problem-solving skills. The role thus requires you to be meticulous and structured in your work and committed to delivering high quality, even under time pressure. You need to be accustomed to collaborating with others to achieve set goals as well as working independently. The work is characterized by a high level of responsibility and requires adherence to the regulations governing the Police Authority's UAS operations. To succeed in the role, you need to have a well-developed spatial ability and be able to orient yourself and make safe decisions during UAS flights, as well as a high safety awareness and good judgment.

[1] Visual acuity must be at least 0.5 binocularly with or without correction and corresponds to the requirements for a B driver's license.

[2] Ishihara test or equivalent. Must be able to distinguish red, green, and white colors to correctly interpret light signals, markings, and visual indicators related to flying.

Hearing must be such that radio communication, warning signals, and instructions can be perceived without difficulty.
