Göteborgs Burial Association is responsible for burial and cremation services within the geographical area of the city of Gothenburg. We have over 200 permanent employees and 120 seasonal workers and summer substitutes. We manage 36 cemeteries with a total of nearly 119,000 burial plots. Our crematorium performs cremations both within Gothenburg and on behalf of other burial authorities.

We are an organizational unit within the Church of Sweden and we carry out our mission in accordance with the Burial Act. The Burial Association is governed by elected representatives from the nine parishes and congregations of the Church of Sweden in Gothenburg. They are appointed through indirect elections to burial delegates who in turn elect a burial board. The administration is organized into geographically divided maintenance departments, functionally divided units, and an office. The operations have a turnover of approximately 325 million SEK.

The administration is currently in an exciting development phase where we are growing while also working to clarify roles and responsibilities.

At the turn of the year, a reorganization occurred from four to five maintenance units, which resulted in changes in the composition of the units.

We are now looking for a team leader for the maintenance team at the Outer Maintenance Unit.

About the Role

As a team leader, you have a central and significant role in the organization. You lead your maintenance team with confidence and clarity and have a good ability to balance the role of employer representative with a present leadership in daily work. Through a communicative, inclusive, and pedagogical leadership style, you motivate and engage your employees.

You are a role model who encourages initiative, utilizes competence, and contributes to a positive work environment. The role involves many points of contact, both internally and externally, which places high demands on collaboration skills, structure, and accountability. You have a solution-oriented approach and see development and change as a natural part of the work.

Job Responsibilities

In close collaboration with the unit manager and other team leaders, you are responsible for leading, planning, executing, and following up on maintenance work within your team and unit. Administrative tasks are included as a natural part of the position.

You actively participate in the daily maintenance work at the cemeteries together with your team, which consists of approximately 5–12 employees depending on the season. As a team leader, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations, protective provisions, and routines. You have delegated occupational health and safety tasks.

The work is carried out year-round in varying weather conditions.

We are looking for someone who is energetic and forward-looking. You enjoy working indoors and outdoors, in heat and cold, in all weather. We have good coffee and friendly colleagues. You are open to change and have the ability to inspire others through your leadership style.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Education in horticulture or landscaping, or other competencies deemed equivalent by the employer
• At least two years of continuous experience in leadership
• Good communicative and pedagogical skills
• Good computer skills
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Driver's license B

Meritorious:

• Leadership training in green maintenance or other relevant leadership training
• Experience working at a cemetery
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365
