The City Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.

Job Responsibilities

Take the chance to work as an animal caretaker and host at the Children's Zoo this summer! Do you want to help both children and adults learn more about animals and nature? With a focus on Nordic animals, you have the opportunity to become part of our dedicated and competent team in Slottsskogen. As a team member, you will be present to inform visitors about the animals and biodiversity.

Your workplace is at the Children's Zoo and on the pony rides. The pony rides are a seasonal activity that is open throughout the summer season. With us, memories for life are created. At the Children's Zoo, visitors have the opportunity for close contact with some of the park's heritage breeds. On the pony rides, children get the chance to ride Slottsskogen's Gotland ponies.

Your Work Setup as an Animal Caretaker

The position is a part-time employment with a rolling schedule including weekend work; you will work 4 days and then be off for 3 days. The employment period is from April 7 to September 13, without vacation. You must be able to work the entire period.

Job Responsibilities as an Animal Caretaker at the Children's Zoo and Pony Rides:

• Joyfully convey knowledge to our visitors and actively talk about the animals and the importance of biodiversity.
• Create a wonderful experience with the animals for our visitors and increase understanding and interest in animals and nature by actively discussing the animals and the significance of biodiversity.
• Animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, maintenance work, enrichment, and basic animal healthcare.
• Be responsible for the care, well-being, and condition of the horses.

Qualifications

What qualities are required to succeed in your role as an animal caretaker? We welcome you who thrive in an outgoing role among visitors, who can sometimes be very many, and convey joy and knowledge. You work independently and take initiative with responsibility for the animals and hospitality towards all visitors, big and small.

Requirements for Animal Caretaker

• High school animal care education
• Driving license B for manual car

Meritorious

• Basic course in GKLH/D9
• Experience working in a zoo and/or in a stable
• Experience in service, hospitality, and guiding.
