About the workplace

Ersta Hospital is part of Ersta Diakoni and is Sweden's largest non-profit hospital with a clear value base – to see the whole person. For 175 years, we have provided healthcare in Södermalm, Stockholm, but we welcome patients from all over the country. Here we offer high-quality, specialized healthcare with both breadth and expertise. We are a university hospital unit and conduct research, education, and development in collaboration with Karolinska Institute. We are growing to help more, and since 2023, the hospital's capacity has tripled, and eight new operations have started.

The palliative clinic consists of three operations: Ersta Specialized Palliative Inpatient Care (SPSV), Ersta ASIH, and Lilla Erstagården. Together, we are about 130 employees with a strong shared commitment to high-quality palliative care.

Our work is characterized by a genuine interest in palliative care and teamwork, with the person at the center. Our medical team has a broad knowledge base with specialist competence in general medicine, geriatrics, surgery, and psychiatry. Our doctors are also specialists in palliative medicine or are undergoing specialist training in palliative medicine.

About the role

You will work as part of ASIH's multiprofessional team with support and guidance from specialist doctors and experienced colleagues. The team consists of doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, and dietitians.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with the patient, relatives, and the patient's other healthcare contacts, focusing on safety, a holistic view, and good continuity – with a good introduction for you as a summer substitute.

There is an opportunity for an extended substitute position within Ersta Hospital even after the summer of 2026.

Who are you?

You enjoy working in a team but also have the ability to work independently, for example during home visits to patients. You have an interest in palliative medicine and a desire to deepen your knowledge in the field. We place great emphasis on good collaboration skills.

Your experience

We are looking for someone who:

• has a medical degree

• has previous experience as a junior doctor in Swedish healthcare

• has good knowledge of Swedish

• has a B driver's license.
