Region Mitt operates in Södermanland, Västmanland, Uppland, Värmland, and Närke. The area of operations for the Mälardalen Probation Service consists of probation offices in Eskilstuna, Västerås, Uppsala, and Nyköping, and we are now seeking probation officers to be placed in Eskilstuna, where the probation office is centrally located and the catchment area includes Södermanland with 7 municipalities.

We are now looking for probation officers for summer vacation replacements in 2025, during the period from week 23 to week 32.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is part of the Probation Service's control and preparedness organization. You will work in a team with other probation officers and closely collaborate with probation inspectors, decision support, administrators, and the preparedness function. Client work is included in the position, and you will participate in client visits at the probation office. Together with the team, you will be responsible for monitoring sentences with electronic control through home visits and workplace visits of convicted individuals serving community service. The work includes staffing security checks for safe entry at the probation office and other security-related tasks, such as urine testing.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a probation officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

It is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or equivalent education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Current work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.
• A valid driver's license for manual transmission.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Current work experience from probation, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social services.
• Relevant language skills.
