Värnamo Hospital
In Värnamo, we not only offer an attractive emergency hospital for our resident doctors. We are also proud to announce that Värnamo municipality has received fine awards in recent years as both Sweden's Outdoor Municipality and Sweden's Cultural Municipality. Hooray! We offer you
At Värnamo Hospital, we strive to provide the residency you want. Our goal is to be flexible and listen to your wishes, thereby creating satisfied and skilled doctors. We offer a residency with good introduction, educational activities, and great opportunities to influence through collaboration.
We offer 10 residency blocks starting in September and March 2026.
All residency blocks cover 21 months and are distributed as follows:
- Six months of surgery (four months of surgery, two weeks of anesthesia, and six weeks of orthopedics)
- Six months of medicine including geriatrics
- Three months of psychiatry
- Six months of general medicine
Within your residency block, you have six elective weeks (observation).

We are looking for
You must have a medical degree by the planned start of the residency block. Foreign applicants must have permission from the National Board of Health and Welfare to do residency in Sweden and have documented language skills corresponding to C1 level in Swedish.
Our goal is to have a competent group with diverse characteristics, which we believe benefits both the residents and our hospital. However, we see that you are responsible, calm, secure, and stable in stressful situations and that you have good collaborative skills. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

- Transcript from LADOK/medical degree certificate
- At least 2 clinical references
- Photo
Applicants with medical education from another country must also attach the National Board of Health and Welfare's decision on permission to do residency in Sweden.
We aim to have a quick recruitment process where interviews are conducted continuously after applications have been received. Admission notifications will be made shortly after the application deadline. Responses are requested within a few days.
If you are offered a residency position, we will request a criminal record extract.
