About Us

The Oncology Section in Blekinge is a relatively small operation, but it is growing.

Our ambition is to continue expanding our operations and we are now looking for employees with a forward-thinking attitude who enjoy working in a small but close-knit group of colleagues. We always have fun at work and maintain a relaxed work environment. All doctors have joint meetings in the morning and afternoon where we go through what is planned for the day and what has happened. Working with cancer patients can be demanding at times, but we all help each other and relieve one another. It is important to us that everyone goes home at the end of the day with a good feeling.

Currently, we have 1 specialist and 5 resident doctors as well as 1 junior doctor. We also have a very close collaboration with the University Hospital in Skåne and regularly have specialist doctors present from there. We also have many joint educational activities with the oncology clinic in Skåne, such as journal clubs and advanced lectures.

About the Job

In Region Blekinge, oncology is a section of the Surgical Clinic. You will thus be formally employed by the Surgical Clinic but will complete your residency in oncology. Your residency position means that you will carry out most of your training in Karlskrona, but some aspects can only be completed at larger clinics. This primarily applies to a longer placement at a radiation therapy clinic but also certain other specific cancer treatments. Most choose to complete these placements at the University Hospital in Lund, but if interested, it is possible to apply to complete these aspects at other hospitals. There are also opportunities for Leadership Residency and Research Residency.

In Blekinge, we only have outpatient services and do not staff the emergency department or wards, but function as consultants for all other clinics in the hospital and for primary care. The clinic is open Monday to Friday and closed on weekends and public holidays.

About You

We are looking for someone who loves to work in a team and has the ability to meet patients with empathy and attentiveness. We are a small clinic, so close collaboration with both doctors and nurses is essential. You need to be able to meet both patients who we cure from their cancer, as well as patients at the end of life. This requires a deep understanding of the different needs of these very different patient groups and their relatives.

Oncology is a specialty that is rapidly developing, and significant research progress is continuously being made. Therefore, you should have an interest in medical science and be prepared for lifelong learning.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
