Correctional Services is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Transport Department (TA) is tasked with transporting and supervising incarcerated individuals. These are Correctional Services' clients who are moved between detention centers and prisons, to court hearings, and hospitals, among others. TA also transports incarcerated individuals for agencies such as the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Migration Agency, and psychiatry. JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. Working in the Transport Department means that your primary task is to transport incarcerated individuals on behalf of Correctional Services and other authorities. You will encounter a wide variety of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. You will search, restrain, and supervise the client during transport, but our primary tool is our communicative ability. The work also includes supervision during, for example, court hearings and hospital visits. Air transport may occur. The varying assignments mean that working hours can differ from day to day.

When you start with us, you will receive an introduction with mixed content where both theoretical parts and practical moments will be covered so that you feel secure in your role and ready to begin working in your new team. You will also undergo a driver training course, and after working for a period, you will be offered a place in Correctional Services' basic training, which is mandatory for all permanent positions. During the probationary period, ongoing assessments will be conducted for your opportunity for permanent employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

The role places high demands on personal suitability. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You need to have a good basic fitness level to handle a sedentary job and to be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Completed high school education or other education combined with work experience that Correctional Services deems relevant
• Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment
• Experience in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law.
• Good ability to express oneself orally and in writing in Swedish
• Good computer skills
• Driver's license (B) and good driving experience

It is advantageous if you have:

• Education in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law.
• Work experience in relevant fields, such as corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, healthcare and social work, service professions
• Relevant language skills
