Responsibilities

The role of a social worker is the only profession within healthcare with social legal competence. To achieve the best treatment results, interdisciplinary teamwork is required where all areas of healthcare knowledge collaborate. As a social worker in psychiatric inpatient care, you coordinate efforts with various community actors, monitor and meet patients' needs and rights.

The social worker's mission and tasks are directed both towards the discharge process and towards supportive and guiding work with patients and relatives, as well as other professional categories. Examples of tasks include participating in rounds to identify needs for interventions in planning for discharge and mapping and coordinating care and support needs at home after discharge. Together with nurses and care coordinators, you will be responsible for the work in the LifeCare system, participate, plan, and coordinate SIP (coordinated individual plan) and UPL (discharge planning).

The social worker provides information, support, and guidance to patients regarding what services the municipality and other actors can offer, assists in applications or reports for guardianship or administration. Psychosocial treatment work, including crisis and support conversations, counseling/guidance on managing life situations and building social safety nets, is also included. An important part is to provide support to relatives and significant others as needed, as well as support to children who are relatives, and assist with reports of concern.

About the Workplace

Adult Psychiatric Inpatient Care in Varberg is a clinic consisting of six care departments and a psychiatric emergency department. Currently, there are three full-time positions for social workers within inpatient care. An opening has now arisen that allows us to hire another full-time social worker for department 23.

In department 23, we provide specialized psychiatric health and medical care focused on psychosis treatment. Psychotic disorders rarely occur alone and often involve both physical and mental health issues. Therefore, the patient is the focus, and the care offered is person-centered, adapting to each patient's unique needs. Department 23 works according to various legal frameworks that are fundamental to daily work. We have a total of 12 care places with a decision to allocate six places for individuals under the law on forensic psychiatric care and six places for psychosis.

In addition to the close collaboration we have with the clinic's departments, we also have a close partnership with the adult psychiatric reception (VPM) in Kungsbacka, Varberg, and Falkenberg to strengthen the care chain, provide better conditions for patients upon discharge, and reduce the risk of psychotic relapse.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker. Previous experience working in healthcare as a social worker, and/or in psychiatry or psychiatric inpatient care is an advantage.

You are a person with a passion for your profession. You adapt your way of working and communicating according to the situation and each patient's individual needs. Since we work interdisciplinary, it is of great importance that you have a well-developed ability to collaborate in a team and are flexible and solution-oriented.
