Job Advertisement: Conservation Workers in Skellefteå Municipality

In Skellefteå municipality, we work together across borders, in a work culture with a strong belief in the future. Here, you can truly make a difference – not just for nature today, but for the landscape that future generations will grow up in.

We are now looking for eight conservation workers who want to take a practical approach to one of our most pressing conservation issues: invasive plants. If you enjoy working outdoors, like to work methodically, and are motivated by clear results from your efforts, this is what you are looking for.

YOUR ROLE

As a conservation worker in the park department, you will be outdoors for most of the day. You will work practically to find, document, and combat invasive plant species in various parts of the municipality. Using a digital map and a documentation system, you will keep track of where efforts have been made and how long the work has taken. The goal is for each site to be visited twice during the season to make the greatest possible impact.

You will always work in pairs and support each other in your daily tasks. At the same time, you will guide summer youth workers who join during the summer period – an opportunity for you to share knowledge, inspire, and create a safe and learning work environment for them.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in conservation who enjoys a job where fieldwork, structure, and documentation go hand in hand. The role includes some guidance of summer youth workers, so it is an advantage if you have experience leading or mentoring others. This can range from working with children and youth groups to sports or other contexts.

Since you will be moving between different areas during the workday, you need to have a B driver's license and feel comfortable being outdoors in varying terrain. You have good computer skills and are meticulous when registering images, times, and observations in our system. It is also important that you can understand instructions, follow methods, and manage the changing conditions that nature presents.

YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

You will be part of the Park and Nature department within community development, which works long-term to both develop and take care of Skellefteå's green environments. Here, you will find engaged colleagues and a strong desire to make a difference in the landscape we live in. As a conservation worker, you will have a job where the results of your efforts are visible, while directly contributing to strengthening biodiversity.

In a rapidly growing municipality, conservation is an important part of a sustainable society. Here, there are opportunities to develop and be part of a group working towards the same goal: a Skellefteå where natural values continue to grow.

GOOD TO KNOW

We recruit based on competence and focus on your experience, knowledge, and potential. Instead of a personal letter, you will answer some selection questions and attach an updated CV.
