We are looking for a dedicated and responsible gardener for seasonal work at our school. The seasonal employment runs from mid-April to mid-September 2026, and the working percentage is 80%. You will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the school's outdoor environments and educational school garden, contributing to a safe, pleasant, and green environment for students and staff.

The work takes place in a school environment, which requires good collaboration skills, a sense of responsibility, and a professional demeanor.

Umeå Waldorf School is beautifully located in a unique environment by the forest and river landscape. The school and preschool are Umeå's oldest free school, with about 300 children and students from preschool to grade 9. The school is tuition-free, non-profit, and non-confessional.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of green areas, flower beds, shrubs, and trees
• Lawn mowing, pruning, and weeding
• Planting and simple landscaping work
• Maintenance of the school's outdoor environments and yards
• Maintenance of the school's educational garden and collaboration with students and teachers in grade 3.
• Handling of gardening machines and tools
• Contributing to order, safety, and comfort in the outdoor environment

Qualifications

• Education in gardening/landscape maintenance or equivalent experience
• Ability to independently plan, organize, and take responsibility for your work
• Experience in practical gardening work
• Familiarity with working with machines (lawnmower, brush cutter)
• Good physical ability and interest in outdoor work
• Fluent in speaking and writing Swedish
• Can provide a criminal record extract (requirement according to the Education Act)

Meritorious

• Experience working in a school or child environment
• Plant knowledge and pruning experience
• Driver's license B
• Training in occupational safety or machine safety
