Skogs- och samemuseet is now looking for a gardener for the cultural botanical garden at Gammplatsen.

Skogs- och samemuseet is a company jointly owned by Lycksele Municipality and Region Västerbotten. We have a regional responsibility to collect, preserve, and disseminate knowledge about forests, forest history, and Sami cultural heritage. The museum is beautifully located at Gammplatsen in Lycksele, a historic cultural environment with roots dating back to the 17th century. The museum is responsible for Lapland's cultural botanical garden and coordinates all other activities in the open-air museum area together with Lycksele Heritage Society and Lycksele Sami Association. Our vision is to be a natural meeting place and a force in sustainable community development through forests and Sami culture.

Skogs- och samemuseet is seeking a gardener for the cultural botanical garden during the summer of 2026. The garden contains selected clone archive plants that have been collected from the landscape of Lapland and Lycksele. These mandated varieties are part of the national gene bank. The Lycksele cultural botanical garden houses Sweden's northernmost gene bank of heritage plants. The assignment includes work management and administrative tasks related to the clone archive. The work may also involve mentoring summer youth or interns.

As a gardener for the cultural botanical garden, you will be employed by Skogs- och samemuseet in Lycksele AB.

YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for someone with relevant education and experience for the role. You have good plant knowledge and previous experience in gardening. You are accustomed to working with hand tools and gardening machines and can perform the work with good results. You need to be resilient and able to work independently. You should enjoy working outdoors and have good physical fitness. Experience in project management is a plus.

Duration: Fixed-term employment for the summer of 2026
Extent: 75-100%
Start: By agreement, but no later than May.
