Project Manager for the Swedish Armed Forces
Project Manager for Construction and Infrastructure – Help Build Sweden's Defense Capability
We are looking for someone who wants to take a key role on the client side, handling everything from new constructions to adaptations of existing premises and infrastructure. With us at the Local Planning Unit (LplE), you will have a socially important mission where your decisions truly make a difference.
We are looking for someone who is a skilled relationship builder, a responsive process leader, and has the ability to drive complex projects forward.
Your mission as a client representative
As a project manager with us (internally called an object manager), you will represent the Swedish Armed Forces as the client. You are the link between the operations that will use the premises and the Fortifications Agency, which owns, builds, and manages them.
You are not responsible for the procurement or construction itself, but for leading the process. Your focus is on capturing the operational needs, transforming them into clear orders, and ensuring that we get the right premises, of the right quality, and at the right time.
You will be a central link coordinating the dialogue between, for example, our own units and external parties such as the Fortifications Agency.
Your main tasks:
- Lead the process: Be responsible for investigating and developing clear needs documentation for new constructions and major renovations.
- Coordination: Maintain contacts between different Armed Forces units and authorities to drive projects to completion.
- Quality assurance: Follow and review ordered objects during the design and construction phases to ensure they meet operational requirements (regarding function, time, and budget).
- Provide advice and support to the garrisons in planning and management issues.
You will have great freedom to plan and structure your work to lead several parallel projects.
Location and travel
Your place of work is at the Arboga garrison. Your area of responsibility may also include other garrisons, and travel during work hours (mainly daytime) may occur.
Who are you?
We believe you are someone who thrives in a central and cohesive role. Since you lead projects without having personnel responsibility, your communication skills are your most important asset. You are good at listening to needs, but also dare to ask questions, prioritize, and structure your work when driving several parallel processes.
Requirements
To be employed, it is a requirement that you have:
- Post-secondary education in construction, property, engineering, or equivalent experience that we assess as comparable.
- Experience working in project form (e.g., as a project manager, design manager, manager, or consultant).
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
It is meritorious (but not a requirement) if you have:
- Relevant work experience from the Armed Forces or other state/public operations.
- Relevant knowledge in related construction areas.
- Experience leading several parallel projects.
Other requirements you must meet
- Driver's license (manual transmission is a requirement for this position).
- Swedish citizenship.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and your ability to build relationships.
