Welcome to our adapted primary school at Jakobsgårdskolan!

We actively work for participation, a good working environment, gender equality, and diversity. The adapted primary school has just over 140 students from grades 1 to 9 and an after-school program. We are organized into six units. Teachers and class assistants work in teams around each student group with a belonging to a larger work team. The school has functioning support functions. The student health team works proactively and preventively together with the school nurse, counselor, special teacher, and special educator, as well as other staff and school management.

We are a very flexible operation that meets students with special support needs from a special education perspective where the student is always in focus. To create the best learning environment for our residents of Borlänge, we believe in a supportive climate and collegial learning.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a class assistant, you provide support both in groups and for individual students in the adapted primary school's two orientations (subjects/subject areas) during the school day and in our after-school activities in the afternoons.

The after-school program opens at 6:30 AM and can be open until 6:30 PM. An exciting and varied job. You work closely with teachers and other colleagues as well as parents. All to best shape the support that the student needs to develop towards the goals in the adapted primary school's curriculum. The overarching goal is for the student to achieve increasing independence, and your role as a class assistant is to be there as support both socially and educationally. You will follow the students in educational and social environments during both school hours and after-school hours. You are responsible for the students' self-care as our students may have multiple disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has experience working in an adapted primary school and has previous experience with students with multiple disabilities. You see opportunities for communication and learning in all moments, such as structured teaching situations in groups, during transitions, or switching from one aid to another. You have knowledge of and can use signs as support, and you have previous experience working from a low-arousal approach. You have excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

As we see and use digital technology as pedagogical tools for learning, it is advantageous if you have experience and are interested in developing digital learning. Educational training, preferably preschool teacher education, childcare education, or child and leisure education is an advantage.

We believe you are a person who sees development work as something positive and you would like to contribute to our ongoing organizational development. You are a team player. You enjoy collaborating, are flexible, and can easily adapt to new situations. You are attentive, have a creative and solution-focused approach, and always put the student first. You are structured, responsible, calm, and secure. You should be able to take initiatives, dare to step forward and take responsibility, both socially and in educational matters. It is important that you have a Big Heart for our target group.
