Church Musician Wanted for Borensberg Parish
Borensbergs PastoratÖstergötlands län, Motala
Previous experience is desired
Are you ready to set the tone for the future of music life in Borensberg Parish?
We are looking for someone who identifies as an engaged and creative church musician – someone who longs for a place where music can carry, touch, and unite. With us, you will help create a vibrant parish life, where people can meet themselves, each other, and God through tone, rhythm, tradition, and innovative expressions.
In Borensberg Parish, our shared mission is characterized by a desire for a supportive community, good collaboration, and a willingness to grow – both together and as individuals. Here, we want to build a hopeful and credible faith community, and we believe that music plays a crucial role in this. You will not be alone in this work. There are many innovative colleagues here who value community, collaboration, and openness. We lift each other up, share ideas, and build the parish together.
The operational team includes an assistant vicar (leading minister), three priests, six church musicians, eight educators, and two deacons. In addition, there is a skilled administrative organization and a well-managed funeral service that supports the work.
The parish has a good economy, and both elected representatives and management are well-educated in their roles and value their employees. Here, you will have the tools to grow and develop in your work, and you can exchange vacation time for a balanced and restorative leisure time.
Your mission
You will have the main responsibility for the music life in one or more of our parishes. You will meet people of all ages – in choirs, lunch music sessions, worship services, and church ceremonies. Perhaps you will also take on a student organist?
Here, there are both traditions to rely on and an openness to try new things. There is a longing for music with breadth – and you will have the space to let your creativity influence people's everyday lives and celebrations.
The position requires a driver's license and access to a car, and the parish can offer to cover part of the cost of driver's education if applicable.
Your main tasks:
- Play at worship services, church ceremonies, and devotions
- Lead choir activities and, if necessary, be part of the confirmation work team
- Plan and execute music arrangements of various kinds
- Be an active and driving part in the development of the parish's music life
- Be responsible for and care for the parish's instruments
Who are you?
- You have a church musician degree from the Church of Sweden at least at C-level or equivalent education, and experience working in a parish.
- You are positive, attentive, and easy to collaborate with others.
- You take an active responsibility for your and your colleagues' shared work environment.
- You have the ability to create engagement and participation in change and deepening.
- You have a pedagogical perspective and can see the strength in people's differences.
- You see opportunities even in what seems difficult and want to contribute to conveying hope.
- You are accustomed to using digital tools and platforms and keep yourself updated regarding the technological developments required for the work.
This is what we offer
With us, you will have the opportunity to work in an organization with both tradition and innovation. There is a belief in the future and good colleagues. Varied tasks, a wide range of contact points, and good working conditions are a given in Borensberg Parish. Here, you will become an integral part of an engaged organization where we work together to create a church that makes a difference for people.
