JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a guide/tourist informant at the Visitor Center, you will welcome visitors and inform them about the World Heritage Site of Gammelstad Church Town, as well as to some extent about Luleå and other destinations in Swedish Lapland. A large part of the work consists of conducting guided tours of the church town in Swedish and English, as well as working in the Visitor Center's souvenir shop.

Your responsibilities also include cash reporting, responding to emails and phone calls, and showcasing the Visitor Center's exhibition. We have professional cleaning several times a week, but if necessary, some cleaning of the premises is included to maintain a pleasant environment between regular cleaning sessions. Gammelstad Visitor Center is open every day of the week, which means work on both weekdays and weekends.

During your first three working days, you will undergo mandatory training where you will become an authorized guide and learn more about the history of Gammelstad. You will also receive materials and paid working hours for preparation before the training. More information about the training will be provided during the recruitment process. The training days will take place from June 8-10, and it is mandatory for you to be present in Gammelstad. The employment period is from June 8 to August 31.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, focuses on good hospitality, and always strives to provide visitors with a positive experience. We prefer that you have prior experience in service. Experience in retail, culture, or the tourism industry is an advantage but not a requirement.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities and prefer that you are flexible, responsible, and comfortable taking your own initiatives. You have an interest in history and cultural heritage, and you are comfortable speaking in front of groups.

Since our tours are conducted in both Swedish and English, you need to have excellent language skills in both languages. Additional languages, especially German and French, are advantageous. Due to the working hours and job responsibilities, you must be over 18 years old.
