The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Do you want to contribute to a safer and more secure society? As a prison officer at a correctional facility, you are the foundation of the security work. You work in teams with other professionals to maintain a safe and secure operation and to motivate clients towards a life without crime. The daily work includes locking and unlocking residential rooms, searching premises, and supervision, as well as providing counseling and preparing for release, among other tasks. The role of a prison officer involves a structured and routine-based approach with a focus on risk assessment and security awareness. The work is varied, and there are many development opportunities for those seeking continued employment. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop and change.
The probationary employment begins with three weeks of introduction at Mariefred prison. After a few months of service, we will schedule when you will start the mandatory basic training for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. The training lasts eight weeks and takes place during paid working hours. Assessment occurs continuously before the probationary employment transitions to permanent employment after six months.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
- Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
- Good computer skills.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Work experience in corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and social care.
- Knowledge in relevant areas such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
- Relevant language skills.
- A valid driver's license (B).
