About the Position
As a Master Data Manager, you are responsible for ensuring a structured, quality-assured, and sustainable management of the municipality's master data. The role is central to establishing, managing, and further developing master data domains. You will act as a coordinator for master data issues across the organization. You will work both strategically and operationally to develop, manage, and coordinate the municipality's data domains in MDM.
Your assignment includes ensuring that metadata, attributes, data models, and data quality are current and used uniformly throughout the municipality. You will contribute to establishing and further developing governance, standards, and processes for how master data is managed throughout its lifecycle – from creation to use and retirement.
You will be an important contact point in the organization regarding master data issues, and you will support the operations in understanding, interpreting, and using common definitions and models. You will also drive development by initiating the introduction of new data domains and information objects as needs arise based on the strategic goals of the operations.
Examples of Tasks:
- manage and update existing data domains in MDM and identify and address data quality issues
- initiate and drive the introduction of new master data domains, information objects, and attributes
- document and maintain concept models, metadata, and attribute definitions
- define and communicate standards, guidelines, and processes for managing master data
- coordinate master data activities and ensure that master data is used consistently throughout the municipality
- follow up, validate, and report on data quality, deviations, and risks
- manage change requests and coordinate with the operations regarding the consequences of changes
- support stakeholders in interpreting and using master data and contribute to continuous improvement

Qualifications

Requirements:
- academic degree of at least 180 credits in computer science, informatics, data science, or other education/experience deemed equivalent by the employer
- experience working with master data and/or information management in larger organizations
- experience in process/lifecycle management of data (from creation to use)
- knowledge of MDM principles (golden record, source data concept, data quality, domain models)
Desirable:
- experience with Master Data Management programs or similar initiatives – strategically and operationally
- experience in establishing and implementing processes for master data throughout its lifecycle
- experience in introducing and working with data definitions and data validation rules
- knowledge of data protection and personal data legislation (e.g., GDPR)
- knowledge of defining and documenting attributes, metadata, and semantics, as well as translating information models into practical use in system management and integrations
- knowledge of information governance, standards, data standards, and data governance
