Forensic Medical Assistant (Temporary Position) at the National Board of Forensic Medicine
Do you want to help strengthen legal security? At the National Board of Forensic Medicine, experts in forensic medicine, forensic chemistry, forensic genetics, and forensic psychiatry collaborate to provide the justice system with the answers it needs. Every detail can be crucial, and whether you work directly with analyses and investigations or in a supportive role, you contribute to a legally secure society.
We are now looking for a forensic medical assistant (temporary position) for the forensic medicine unit in Stockholm. The unit consists of about 35 people who work together to conduct forensic autopsies and issue forensic certificates.
Your Assignment
As a forensic medical assistant (autopsy technician), you will primarily work practically to prepare and assist in forensic autopsies, prepare the deceased, handle samples, perform CT scans, and participate in the unit's morgue operations. Contributing practically to the tissue donation activities carried out by the unit is also part of your duties, as well as actively participating in quality work. As part of your assignment, you may also have contact with external actors such as the police and funeral contractors.
Other tasks within the framework of the unit's and department's assignments may also occur.
Qualifications
- At least completed secondary education that the employer deems relevant for the position
- Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
Meritorious
- Current work experience that the employer deems relevant for the position, for example from autopsy operations
- Documented course/training in anatomy
Personal Characteristics and Abilities
The nature of the work requires a high level of quality awareness and attention to detail in all aspects, as well as good collaboration skills since the autopsy operations are carried out in close cooperation with other colleagues. You are expected to be a calm and stable person, attentive to both the needs of the organization and your colleagues, and contribute to a good working atmosphere. The work is mentally challenging as death investigations usually involve difficult events, and to handle the stresses of the job, both high integrity and personal maturity as well as an ethical approach are required.
The work involves both fine motor skills and physically demanding tasks, which requires good physical condition.

The Employment
The employment is a temporary position for about 1 year. Start date immediately or by agreement. Placement at Forensic Medicine in Stockholm, Solna. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting. The authority's units are located in various locations in Sweden, so travel in the service may occur.

The Department of Forensic Medicine conducts approximately 5,500 forensic autopsies each year on behalf of the police and prosecutors. We also investigate suspected perpetrators and victims of violent crimes. Within the Department of Forensic Medicine, there are six forensic medical units located in Umeå, Uppsala, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Linköping, and Lund.
