About the Role and Your Responsibilities

The position of project manager for public art is based at Lund Art Hall.

Your task will be to initiate new productions and finalize ongoing productions within the framework of permanent public art in Lund Municipality. The work is planned in collaboration with the art hall director, but you will be the one driving it forward and responsible for implementation. The work is largely independent, yet social, as it relies on close contacts within and outside the municipal sphere. It is important to meet deadlines and adhere to the given budget.

Lund Municipality has approximately 400 permanent public artworks in its collection, placed both outdoors and indoors. These artworks require continuous maintenance and occasionally undergo minor or major renovations, which will be part of your responsibilities.

The art hall has many partners in other departments within the municipality, and for public art, this mainly involves the Urban Planning Office and the Parks Department within the Technical Committee. They are involved in deciding the placement of newly produced art. The selection of artworks is made by an external expert group that also includes representatives from the art hall.

You will be part of a team, where our coordinating technician will assist with renovation issues. Lund Art Hall has another position related to public art, a project manager focused on more temporary public art, specifically urban art, also known as street art. This will be a close colleague who can serve as a sounding board for various issues.

The role of project manager for public art also includes the dissemination of public art, which involves writing various types of texts, conducting tours, and producing filmed interviews with artists. You need to be able to express yourself very well in Swedish and preferably also in English, both orally and in writing.

The project manager for permanent art will also have some budget work related to the various projects and assist in applying for external funding.

We Are Looking for You

We are looking for an engaged and knowledgeable employee who can compile and implement art programs in collaboration with artists, colleagues, clients, architects, and construction managers, and additionally work on the dissemination of our public art projects. Part of the job also involves being responsible for the maintenance of the municipality's existing public artworks.

The work includes writing texts, conducting tours and seminars, and producing filmed interviews with artists. You should be able to maintain a set budget, and we would appreciate your interest in helping us with external applications to expand the budget for activities related to public art.

To thrive in the work at an art hall and to function within an existing context of colleagues with similar tasks, engagement and creativity are required, as well as good communication skills, and you are expected to contribute to strategic discussions.

You will be placed at Lund Art Hall with the art hall director as your immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Your background and qualifications include a university degree in art history, at least at the master's level, or other education combined with experience that the employer deems relevant for the assignment. It is a requirement that you have extensive knowledge of and documented experience working with contemporary art in various contexts. You should also have significant experience in project management.

The job requires excellent ability to articulate in speech and writing and good knowledge of English.

Previous experience working with public art is an advantage. A B driver's license is also a significant benefit.

We Offer You

As an employee with us, you will receive a range of benefits focused on balance, security, and health.
