The emergency department at Falu Hospital is tasked with providing specialized healthcare for acutely seriously ill or injured citizens. The emergency services cover seven different medical specialties, around the clock, including medicine, cardiology, infection, pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, and gynecology.

The emergency department in Falun is looking for a nursing assistant for day/night shifts.

As a nursing assistant, you will take care of and assess acutely ill patients together with a nurse. You will assist in various examinations such as suturing, punctures, sampling, etc. The patient must always be the focus, and providing good care is an important task in emergency healthcare. Starting from autumn 2022, Region Dalarna offers a health-promoting work schedule model that allows for shorter weekly working hours for those working in a 24/7 operation. The aim is to contribute to a work environment where more people can work full-time and have the opportunity for recovery during night and rotational work. This means that those working rotation will have shorter weekly working hours based on the amount of night work performed.

Requirements:

• you are a trained nursing assistant who has completed the Health and Care program or the vocational package Health and Care in adult education
• you feel secure in your professional role
• you have experience working in emergency healthcare
• you have a diploma from the Health and Care College

It is meritorious if you have:

• further education as an emergency nursing assistant
• program specialization in Emergency Care and Medicine 2 (if you have completed the previous Health and Care program)
• experience in somatic healthcare

Information about the Job Title

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant is a protected job title (https://legitimation.socialstyrelsen.se/underskoterska-blir-en-skyddad-yrkestitel/). This means you need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant in healthcare.

You can apply for the certificate starting July 1, 2023. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in healthcare but with a different title than nursing assistant. For those offered a job with us at Region Dalarna after July 1, the title in your employment contract will be Care Assistant until you can present your certificate. If you had a permanent position with the title nursing assistant when the new regulations came into effect on July 1, 2023, you can continue to use the title for 10 years. You can retain the title even if you change workplaces/employers after July 1. After that, you will need a certificate for the protected job title to use the title nursing assistant.
