The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Lund has a regional mission to care for premature and ill newborns in need of highly specialized neonatal intensive care or intermediate care. Lund is also responsible for highly specialized care in pediatric cardiac surgery and certain areas of pediatric surgery. The neonatal service in Lund plays an important role in this mission. There is a strong research tradition, and research at a high international level is conducted. Several of the studies are clinical research projects in patient-centered care.
In the intensive care units, premature infants from gestational week 22+0 and full-term newborns in need of highly specialized neonatal intensive care, as well as unstable newborns in need of intermediate care, are cared for.
In the intermediate care units, children from gestational week 28 and above are cared for with monitoring and various types of respiratory support for general observation, as well as care focused on growth and breastfeeding.
We continuously work on professional development through workgroups, training days, team training, case discussions, and supervision. Our orientation program is individually tailored both theoretically and clinically based on your previous work experience. The Competence and Service Model (KTM) will be introduced in our department in 2026. The model provides a clear structure for your learning and career opportunities within our organization.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are now looking for an intensive care nurse or pediatric nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Lund.
Our work climate is characterized by joy, camaraderie, and professionalism, where we place the child and family at the center. We work in teams with neonatologists, pediatric/intensive care nurses, pediatric/nursing assistants, pharmacists, as well as paramedical and administrative staff. Everyone is engaged, and together we create the future for our patients and their families.
The working hours are a mix of day and night shifts. We apply a point-based salary system, which is a favorable working time model with high compensation for inconvenient working hours.

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with authorization to practice within Swedish healthcare. Furthermore, you must have specialized training in pediatric nursing or intensive care. Knowledge of Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale is a requirement.
Experience in neonatal care or intensive care, primarily neonatal intensive care, is an advantage. Since we work a lot with medical technology, it is necessary that you have an interest in this.

In the meeting with the patient and family, you as a nurse need to be stable and secure with a great ability to solve challenges. You share our ambition to constantly improve through your ability to take initiative and build relationships.
You have the ability to adapt your communication and your approach based on the needs of the patient and their family. In acute situations, you remain calm, focus on the right things, and can handle a sometimes high workload.
