To succeed fully, we must have many and extensive competencies and work together for a common and trusting work culture, built on courageous, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the residents.
Unit Description
The unit for support and interventions is developing in line with the new social services act and is expanding with a new position to strengthen work with youth.
We focus on preventive, early, and easily accessible interventions for children, youth, families, and adults at risk. The unit is part of the Social and Care Office in Värmdö and offers outpatient interventions for children and youth, families, and adults. Within the unit, there are, among others, the Youth Center, Mini Maria, Field Operations, Parent Support Hamnen, the Family Team, SIG/SSPF, School Social Team, and the Addiction Center.
As part of social services, we work with promoting and preventive activities that focus on early interventions for children, youth, parents, and adults at risk.
Do you want to work both preventively and therapeutically with youth?
We are now looking for an engaged and secure employee who wants to work in a combined role as a counselor at the youth center and youth therapist. This position is for you who want to meet young people in various contexts and contribute with both early, easily accessible interventions and more structured therapeutic work.
The Youth Center offers early support and preventive interventions for youth, focusing on mental, physical, and sexual health. We work at the young person's request and with a low threshold, to strengthen resources and opportunities to make healthy choices. The target group is young people aged 12–22, regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnic background, religion, or functionality. The service is aimed at both young people seeking advice, support, or treatment and those who need more structured interventions over time.
Job Description
The position is divided between two assignments:
Counselor at the Youth Center
In the role of counselor, you meet young people and young adults for conversations about mental health, relationships, identity, sexuality, life situation, and other issues that may arise during youth. The work is primarily preventive and supportive, with a low threshold and focus on accessibility, participation, and responsiveness. The work is carried out in close collaboration with other professionals at the youth center. The tasks include outreach work, which consists of receiving class visits and visiting schools/high schools, as well as active collaboration with other actors in the municipality.
Youth Therapist
As a youth therapist, you work with early, preventive, and easily accessible interventions in accordance with the new social services act's direction. The work aims to early identify and meet the needs of young people, reduce the risk of problems deepening, and strengthen protective and health factors in the young person's life situation.
The interventions are voluntary, needs-based, and can be provided without a support decision, and are offered either at the request of social services or at the young person's own initiative. The work may include structured individual interventions or programs over time and can involve psychosocial issues, relationship difficulties, norm-breaking behavior, or other life situations that affect the young person's well-being and functioning. The work is carried out individually and in collaboration with family, networks, and other actors.
We are looking for you
with a degree in social work or another equivalent academic degree assessed by the employer. You have experience in therapeutic work with youth, as well as experience in supportive conversations with young people in various situations.
