Your Responsibilities

We are looking for performers for our street theater during the summer activity 'The Summer of All Times' – where history comes alive. The position involves performing in streets and squares, dramatized walks, vagabond school, and puppet theater. The work includes both acting in somewhat longer predetermined scenes and a lot of improvisation and hosting. In Gamla Linköping, you may act as a farmhand, maid, vagabond, schoolmistress, stationmaster, shopkeeper, tenant farmer, or priest. The historical periods range from 1814 to around the 1940s.

The work is performed in period-appropriate clothing provided by the museum.

During a day, you will perform both together with your colleagues and also on your own.

Your Workplace

The Open-Air Museum Gamla Linköping is one of Östergötland's largest tourist attractions and one of Sweden's most visited museums. The museum is part of the Museums & Heritage unit and is organizationally located within the Culture and Leisure Administration, Linköping Municipality. Gamla Linköping portrays the small town of Linköping during the period from around 1700 to around 1950. The museum consists of three parts: the city blocks, the rural Valla farm, and the nature reserve Vallaskogen, with farmland that is used as it was in the past. Here, city and countryside meet within walking distance from Linköping's center.

We are now looking for new employees for the open-air museum's peak season 'The Summer of All Times' in 2026. During 'The Summer of All Times', the working method is characterized by living history, under the motto “Where history comes alive,” with a rich variety of activities for children and adults.

The employment is a seasonal position from June 22 to August 9, with a working percentage of 60-65% and scheduled working hours including weekends. The position includes mandatory and paid internal training on May 4-5, as well as rehearsals at the end of May and the beginning of June.

Who You Are

You have an education in theater/drama or drama pedagogy from a university, folk high school, or equivalent that the employer deems comparable. If you have an education in history, that is an advantage.

Experience in role-playing, improvisation, and acting or historical reenactment is a requirement. If you have experience from the museum sector, historical reenactment, educational work, or other visitor industries, we consider that an advantage.

We appreciate if you have an interest in history, and we value your language skills, where good knowledge of Swedish and English is a requirement, and other languages are a plus.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, has a distinct service mentality, and a desire to make the visitor's stay a fantastic experience, whether young or old. You have an easy time adapting your behavior depending on which visitor you have in front of you or according to the situation that arises.
