About us

The Department of Adult Education is one of eight departments within the Administration for Labor Market, Culture, and Leisure.

The Department of Adult Education offers municipal adult education in Solna through a procurement system operated jointly with nine other municipalities, Vux Norrort. Currently, 23 education providers are authorized to deliver education to the residents of Solna.

The department is responsible for study and career guidance, admissions, support for students who need additional adjustments, outreach activities, administration, and grade management. The department is also responsible for contractor management and contract follow-up, ensuring that systematic quality work is conducted in accordance with governing documents and political goals.

The department's starting point is to meet the needs of Solna residents for adult education and to provide the best possible service. Here, residents can apply for Swedish for immigrants (SFI) as well as basic and upper secondary adult education, receive information and study and career guidance, and take level tests in Swedish, English, and mathematics.

What does the job entail?

In the role of study and career counselor, you will provide qualified study and career guidance and information to adult applicants/students and support them in study planning based on each individual's goals and conditions. Administrative tasks are included, such as processing applications and handling student matters. In this role, you will also be responsible for planning, compiling materials, and issuing high school diplomas.

You will have daily contact and collaborate with many different actors, such as students, education providers, and partners both within and outside Solna municipality. The work is carried out in close cooperation with colleagues in the Department of Adult Education, which consists of five study and career counselors, two administrative coordinators, one special educator, one deputy principal, and the school principal.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has

• a degree in study and career counseling
• experience working as a study and career counselor
• good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
• good knowledge of English in both spoken and written form
• experience working with digital tools.

To succeed in this role, we believe you are a secure and stable person with good self-awareness. You are interested in social issues and the development of today's and tomorrow's labor market. You are driven by goal- and result-oriented thinking, take initiative, and have the ability to independently plan and organize your work effectively.
