We are now looking for you who want to be part of creating a new district in Gothenburg!

Backaplan is one of the largest urban development programs in the Nordics – a completely new district is emerging here with 10,000 homes, 140,000 sqm of city retail, as well as a large proportion of offices and businesses, schools, and preschools.

We are now seeking an engaged program manager to coordinate and oversee the design and construction phase for public spaces and who wants to play a key role in realizing the vision of a vibrant, sustainable, and integrated district in Hisingen.

Responsibilities

As the Program Manager for Public Spaces, you are part of the management team for the Backaplan program with leadership and coordination responsibility for the design and construction phase of public spaces within the development projects for Backaplan. The transformation has begun and is expected to continue over the next 15-20 years. As the Program Manager for Public Spaces, you are responsible for organizing, leading, and coordinating the work in the design and construction phase for public space land in the various detailed plans. This is done in close collaboration with block land and other parts of the development projects. You will integrate technical, economic, environmental, and time aspects and ensure that the projects are driven according to the city’s and program’s goals for urban development.

You:

  • represent the Public Spaces program in Backaplan's program management group based on the program's benefits and effects.
  • actively contribute to collaboration with block land and other parts of the development projects.
  • work in close dialogue with other parts of the city to ensure a holistic view and long-term perspective.
  • lead, organize, and coordinate upcoming design and implementation together with project managers and internal/external stakeholders.
  • are responsible for procurement work regarding design and contracting form.
  • ensure and follow up on quality, budget, and timelines in these complex urban projects.

Who are you?

You have more than ten years of experience in project management within urban planning, construction, or building – preferably in larger, complex projects. You have a good ability to communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with various stakeholders.

You are comfortable working in a public context, are used to coordinating many stakeholders, and are driven by finding workable solutions from different perspectives and collaborations. You take pride and engagement in being part of developing Gothenburg.

Qualifications

  • We are looking for someone with a university degree in urban planning or equivalent relevant competence acquired in another way.
  • More than ten years of relevant work experience with experience leading large-scale and complex projects or programs.
  • You have relevant work experience from the urban planning/development industry with a focus on the design and construction phase and are accustomed to acting at a strategic level and towards management groups.
  • You have knowledge of contract law.
  • You should have good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • You should be able to express yourself fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

  • A good understanding of and experience working within the public sector and an understanding of the regulations that exist in the municipal and state sectors.

Conditions

Before a possible interview, you need to present a passport/national ID/certificate of residence issued by the Tax Agency and possibly proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EEA. This is to ensure your identity and that you have the right to work in Sweden. You may also be asked to provide proof of qualifications if this is a requirement for the position.
