Unit Manager for the Executive Office in Piteå Municipality

The Municipal Executive Administration works on behalf of the municipal council and is responsible for several cross-municipal assignments. The Executive Office ensures processes and decision-making support for politicians, manages the Central Archive, an investigation team, election coordination, insurance coordination, and the municipality's leasing cars. The unit is part of the Department of Democracy and Development, which also includes two other units: the Security Unit and the Development Unit.

Job Responsibilities

As the unit manager, you are responsible for leading, developing, and coordinating the unit and its 15 employees. You have personnel, operational, and budget responsibilities and work closely with both managers and other support functions within the administration. Your role is both operational and strategic – you ensure that daily operations run smoothly while driving the unit's long-term development.

You ensure that the unit delivers services of high quality in line with the municipality's strategies and the needs of the citizens, and that operations are conducted within given frameworks.

The unit is characterized by engaged employees with a high degree of self-leadership.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a relevant higher education or other training/experience that the employer deems equivalent.

You need to have experience and a good understanding of municipal operations, knowledge of municipal governance and management. Previous managerial experience and leading development projects in a politically governed organization is an advantage.

As a manager in Piteå Municipality, you are a role model for others and have a holistic perspective in your actions and decisions. Therefore, you are coaching, clear, and communicative in your leadership, creating engagement and participation based on a trust-based approach within given frameworks.

As a person, you have an analytical and structured working method where the whole is important while valuing efficiency. For you, it is important to drive progress and deliver on current issues. You are confident in your professional role, willing to trust your intuition, break patterns, and think outside the box.
