The main goal and task of the Surgical Center in Umeå is to provide highly specialized and high-quality care and research for patients within the northern healthcare region. The clinic is divided into sections for urology, breast, endocrine, vascular, colorectal, and upper gastrointestinal surgery, which are conducted in both outpatient and inpatient care. The care at the Surgical Center is characterized by a holistic approach where many different professional categories are engaged and collaborate for the best results.

The Surgical Center has now opened a surgical emergency care unit (KAVA). Here, we take care of the acute influx of surgical patients, primarily from the Emergency Department, and offer safe and efficient care in a dynamic environment. The unit initially has 8 care places, which will also contribute to the Surgical Center at NUS taking care of its own surgical patients to a greater extent and reducing satellite procedures.

We are now looking for nurses who want to be part of our team. Working in the Surgical Emergency Care Unit is a very exciting and stimulating job. Together with engaged colleagues and other professional groups, you will contribute to building a cohesive team with competence for acute and traumatic surgical patients.

We offer a personalized introduction, support from trained mentors, and scheduled time for reflection and development. As a new nurse, you will also participate in the region's introductory year with regular meetings and training. Our work time models are flexible and designed to provide you as an employee with a more balanced workday.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel safe. You will work in a broad surgical area focusing on emergency care and trauma care.

In the unit, we handle, among other things, abdominal observations, appendicitis infections, gallstone problems, bowel obstruction, surgical and traumatic injuries. As a nurse, you have an important role in the care team where you collectively are responsible for daily care, nutrition, mobilization, wounds, and other tasks. You work closely with the patient, and your work includes identifying risks, assessing, addressing, and evaluating the patient's various care needs. You will have an important role in leading, prioritizing, and coordinating the care work together with your care team. Rotation may be relevant, which means you have the opportunity to rotate in our sections to enhance your surgical competence.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. We consider it an advantage if you have experience in surgery or emergency care.
