Destination Gotland offers a varied and fast-paced seasonal job with the goal that everyone traveling to or from Gotland has a top-class experience.

Onboard the restaurant, we serve well-prepared food made from local ingredients, ranging from fresh vegan and vegetarian dishes to delicious meat and fish dishes.

In the kitchen, you will work in a tight team alongside chefs and cold kitchen staff. The tasks vary from preparing food a la minute, preparing and serving our guests well-cooked canteen food, to prepping for the entire week’s trips. The work also includes adhering to internal hygiene routines. Dishwashing and cleaning occur daily.

Working Hours:

The work is structured so that you work 7 days and then have 7 days off in a rolling schedule throughout your seasonal employment. For you, this means exciting and fun days onboard, while you can also enjoy everything summer has to offer during your time off on land!

During the summer, we also have night traffic, which means that working hours can be scheduled at night, as well as during the day and evening. Since it is a seasonal employment at 100%, you will live onboard the ship during your working days. Staff live in single or double cabins onboard.

Qualifications

Our expectations of you:

• You can easily prioritize and maintain focus even when the pace is high

To work with us, you need to be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 3 years of secondary/post-secondary education in restaurant/catering or equivalent work experience.

You do not need to have worked on a vessel before, but previous experience in a large kitchen or a la carte is an advantage.

Swedish is our safety language, so it is important that you can speak Swedish fluently and understand the Swedish language in both speech and writing. You also have good knowledge of English.

Safety:

Onboard, safety is always the highest priority. As a new employee with us, you will undergo mandatory safety training and a medical examination for maritime employees.

If you are called for safety training, you need to bring an extract from the criminal record. Before a hiring decision is made, we always conduct a background check as well as an alcohol and drug test.

Interviews and References:

We collaborate with LB Karriär, which is responsible for interviews and reference checks. Selection is ongoing, and we look forward to your application as soon as possible!

At Destination Gotland, we are responsible for one of Sweden's most important routes – the sea route between Gotland and the mainland. Our fast ferries create opportunities for both passenger and freight traffic to travel efficiently between Gotland and the mainland, on the routes Visby – Nynäshamn or Visby – Oskarshamn.

Starting in the spring of 2024, we will also operate cruise traffic between Stockholm, Mariehamn, and Visby with the vessel M/S Birka Gotland.

We have been operating the Gotland traffic since 1998 and are proud of the trust. Formally, the assignment is from the Transport Agency, but in many ways, the assignment is also from the Gotland community. We see it as our task to contribute to the development of Gotland by always leading the way and creating opportunities for everyone who wants to travel to and from our island.
