Your Responsibilities

As a custodian with us, you will support the library operations regarding traditional custodian tasks and technology at the main library and local libraries. You will be part of the Internal Service team, whose mission is to provide support and service to our operations so that it functions, improves, and develops. Here, you will work alongside a custodian colleague and a coordinator who is the team leader. Part of the work will involve transporting and handling the library's media. You will also meet library visitors while performing your tasks in the library's premises.

The position also includes providing support for various types of events, where working evenings and weekends may occur. This may involve practical tasks such as moving furniture and other equipment, as well as assisting with events involving sound and technology. Lifting and some heavier tasks are included in the position.

Your Workplace

Linköping City Library consists of 11 library units that work together to operate and develop Linköping City Library. We want the library to be an interactive meeting place for everyone. Central to us is working with democracy, education, and culture. We work to uplift prioritized target groups, operate outside our premises, collaborate with other organizations, and increase participatory culture. We create space for innovative thinking, open up for new cultural expressions, and work closely with others.

Linköping City Library forms, together with other public libraries in Östergötland and Tranås, the Götabiblioteken. The goal for Götabiblioteken is to bring people together, make knowledge come alive, spark imagination, and enable everyone to discover and learn to create a strong and sustainable society where everyone can achieve their dreams.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who has a high school diploma with a practical orientation or work experience that the employer deems relevant. We see that you have previous experience in property maintenance, repairs, and maintenance of furniture and equipment or other similar practical tasks. Basic computer skills and technical competence are prerequisites for the position.

You can perform minor repairs and find solutions to practical everyday problems that arise in the operations. A B driver's license for manual transmission is required, and if you have experience driving light trucks for transportation, that is a plus. Since the job involves many internal contacts, good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written form are required.

The custodial service at the city library is the hub of the operation, and you will come into contact with many employees and a number of visitors in your work. Therefore, it is important that you enjoy interacting with people and are good at listening to their needs and wishes. You thrive with practical and varied tasks and work well with others. You see what needs to be done and take responsibility for solving tasks in the best way. You are flexible and can adapt to changing circumstances where you see opportunities instead of obstacles.
