Application for Junior Doctor Before Graduation at the Surgery Department

We offer a position as a departmental junior doctor before graduation in the VO Surgery and Urology at Danderyd Hospital.

If you have recently graduated, you are of course welcome to apply as well.

The employment will last for 8 weeks during the summer of 2026, from week 25 to week 32, i.e., from June 15, 2026, to August 9, 2026.

Selection and hiring will occur continuously, but feedback on your application may unfortunately take some time. Our planning is that interviews will take place during January and February 2025, and decisions will be communicated before the end of February, so do not wait to apply.

We plan to hire 4 junior doctors for the summer, who will staff the two surgical departments: department 61/62, which is lower GI, and department 63/64, which is upper GI. Two junior doctors will be placed in department 61/62 for the entire employment period, and two in department 63/64.

Job Description

For junior doctors before graduation, the position involves standard junior doctor work in a surgical department, including support during rounds and discharges. You will work in a team with experienced surgeons who are always available. Both acute and elective surgical patients are handled in the departments, and the workload can be high, but in return, we promise an educational and developing experience.

Qualifications

• At least a junior doctor before graduation, as a medical student from semester 10
• Passed all components up to and including semester 10 of the medical program.
• For studies outside Sweden, a passing grade on all components and grades equivalent to semester 10 in the Swedish medical education is required.

We are looking for someone who is flexible, responsible, has good communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate with others and is confident in themselves. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Our Employment Offer

About the Department

The area of Surgery and Urology conducts both emergency and elective surgery and urology, as well as surgical operations in outpatient and inpatient care around the clock. We treat and care for patients primarily from Stockholm County, but also from outside the county and foreign patients with surgical or urological diseases. Patients are taken care of at several different specialist clinics, two operating rooms, and four wards with different profile areas: colorectal surgery, surgery in the upper gastrointestinal tract, obesity surgery, liver tumors, and urology. About 460 employees work here.
