We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (https://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

The specialized palliative care at Akademiska sjukhuset is conducted at the Palliative Center, which also includes a branch in Tierp. Here, patients with various diagnoses and of all ages are cared for. We provide palliative care to patients with complex symptoms or whose life situation entails special needs, and we work in multiprofessional teams where special knowledge and competence are utilized.

At the Palliative Center, there are four units; the department for specialized palliative inpatient care (SPVA), the department for specialized home care (ASH) covering Uppsala, Knivsta, and Norduppland, a palliative outpatient clinic, and a palliative consultation team (PKT) providing advice and training for both outpatient and inpatient care throughout the region. The operation is characterized by a holistic view of the individual, high-quality care and nursing, and support for relatives. Our facilities are located at Akademiska sjukhuset, Genetikvägen 4, which is 3.5 km south of Akademiska sjukhuset, as well as in facilities at Tierp Health Center. Research and education are an important part of all operations at Akademiska sjukhuset, including the Palliative Center.

Currently, a reorganization is underway with the explicit aim of strengthening palliative care within the region. We look forward to the future with confidence, and we would like to include even more competent individuals in our development of the operations!

Your Mission

As a physician at the Palliative Center, you will work at the various units of the operation. The work is scheduled during daytime without on-call duties, but in the long term, there is an ambition to establish a dedicated on-call service/availability. Research and development projects may be part of the clinical work, and teaching is included as a natural part of the duties. Your mission will be within Region Uppsala.

Your Qualifications

Specialist physician in palliative medicine or any patient-centered specialist competence with the goal of starting a residency in palliative medicine. Previous experience in similar operations and documented pedagogical skills are meritorious. If the applicant meets the criteria for a senior physician position at Akademiska sjukhuset, such a position can be discussed. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and ability to collaborate. A driving license (B) is a requirement.

Your Competence

You have well-founded and clear values that guide you in critical situations at work. You collaborate well with others, are attentive, and handle conflicts constructively by understanding others' perspectives and situations. You demonstrate a high cultural awareness by valuing differences and understanding how background, culture, and group affiliation affect both yourself and others. At the same time, you have a good holistic view, where you see the larger context and always act with the best interests of the entire operation in focus.

We Offer

We offer a permanent full-time position. Salary and start date according to agreement. A probationary period of up to 6 months may apply.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
