About the Department

The Forensic Psychiatry unit in NU Healthcare is located in well-equipped and purpose-built facilities at Brinkåsen in Vänersborg.

The Forensic Psychiatry unit at Brinkåsen consists of four wards with different focuses based on psychiatric diagnoses. Common to all wards is that our patients are sentenced to inpatient forensic psychiatric care.

Our mission is to improve the patient's mental health through care and treatment. Our goal is to involve the patient more in their care. Individualizing care interventions increases the chances for the patient to gain control over their illness and thereby prevent relapse into criminal activity.

The ward focuses on neuropsychiatric disabilities, sometimes in combination with substance abuse and psychotic-like conditions. In addition to nursing staff, the facility includes other competencies and professions that support our care processes aimed at achieving our treatment goals.

Job Responsibilities

We work in care teams based on a contact person model following evidence-based guidelines and care programs. As a nurse, you will have overall nursing responsibility within the care team and be responsible for various medical interventions.

As part of your introduction, we apply mentorship.

Qualifications

Licensed nurse with an interest in psychiatry. We work in teams and maintain continuous contact with relatives and care neighbors, placing great emphasis on personal suitability and ability to collaborate.

Clinical Foundation Year

As a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of NU Healthcare's clinical foundation year. The clinical foundation year is an initiative to provide newly graduated nurses with a good start in their professional life. You will have better opportunities to develop in your profession and build a professional identity through introduction, seminar days, and professional supervision.

Other Information

Interviews will be conducted continuously throughout the application period.
