Medicine Department 8 is an internal medicine inpatient department at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Lund, where one of two training units at Sus is included, our Clinical Training Unit (KUA). In our department, we primarily care for elderly patients with multiple illnesses who are investigated and treated for conditions such as heart failure, respiratory problems, and infections.

We are now looking for more colleagues who, like us, want to do the best for our patients and have a special commitment to the internal medicine patient in emergency care and to students who are trained with us.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In the department, we care for adults, often with multiple illnesses, who primarily come from the emergency department. Diagnoses that are most common with us include heart failure, COPD, anemia, infections, diabetes, and cognitive impairment. With us, you will develop your ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with the internal medicine patient at the center. You will work closely with the patient in a team that includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. It is important that you feel secure and enjoy providing daily care for elderly patients with multiple illnesses. This is a crucial part of what nursing assistants do in our department and essential for ensuring patient safety.

We offer clinical competence development to strengthen you in your role. This takes place in weekly forums with lectures and practical training, as well as through guidance and support from our clinical specialist and team leader.

Part of your working hours may be dedicated to driving and developing our work in areas such as environment, fire, and safety according to the applicable guidelines and routines at Sus. Therefore, we appreciate if you have a special interest in these issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant and meets the requirements for a protected professional title according to the National Board of Health and Welfare, regardless of whether you have studied according to previous or current program structures. It is an advantage if you have knowledge and/or experience in emergency care/healthcare. You have good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. It is also advantageous if you have several years of experience in hospital care and have previously worked with student supervision.

Personal qualities that we value include being positive, engaged, and having a desire to develop in your role as a nursing assistant. We would like you to participate in various working groups that drive the department's work forward. You have good communication skills and are service-oriented. Furthermore, you have the ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances. You are humble in your relationship with patients and colleagues and have the ability to keep the patient at the center. It is particularly significant if you are used to supervising new colleagues and students, as there may be opportunities to work at KUA, our training unit where we train students from, among others, the nursing program during the semesters.
